Yoga is much more than just a way that we move our bodies into different shapes or breathe in certain ways. Yoga is about moving inwards, into the Self. To do that, we need to start to develop tools to be still and look within, to cope with what we see, and to act on what we learn.
The practice of Yoga, and spiritual practices in general, have helped me cope with life enormously and it sounds cliché but they honestly changed my life. So I want to share some of what I have learned along the way with whoever feels compelled to listen.
“I was looking for someone to inspire me, motivate me, support me, keep me focused… Someone who would love me, cherish me, make me happy, and I realized all along that I was looking for myself.”
self development immersion
Over six x two hour sessions we will be meeting as a closed, intimate and supportive group to start to delve into some topics that perhaps you haven't touched on before or maybe you just need a gentle reminder.
These topics were designed by me in an effort to share what I love and am passionate about in an intelligent sequence to set you up with a framework for having a deeper understanding of who you are and why you are here.
1) vision and purpose
In this first session we will be exploring your vision (both for our time together and beyond) as well as digging into what your purpose might be in this world. That is, what lights you up? What is your special gift? We are all so unique so let's find what is unique about you!
Meditation is a word that means different things to different people. It is an ancient practice which provides a sense of spaciousness between the Self (who we are at our essence) and our thoughts. Meditation helps us to stop identifying with the mind and start connecting with what exists beyond the mind.
3) yoga for mood and mental health
One incredibly useful benefit of the yoga practices is that they assist us with the movement of energy within the mind and body - which simply put results in helping us to find a balance in the nervous system. I believe that we are all managing our mental health, the same way we are managing our physical health so I will provide support for you to be more sensitive to your own mental health as well as tools for how to manage different types of moods and mental health distress.
4) going into the mind
Did you know that we have at least 65,000 thoughts per day? How many of these thoughts do you hold to be true? Do you know that when you hold a thought to be true it becomes a belief and that belief changes the way that you interact with the world? If this is already sounding a bit out there for you, don't worry. We will be looking in detail at our thoughts and beliefs and how they affect how we perceive, and therefore respond to, the world.
5) increasing vitality + connection
Wellness and vitality is more than just good health and we will be explore some different areas of wellness, including connection. Connection is essential for the wellbeing of human beings. Not an internet connection; a connection to meaningful things like other people, purpose, nature, good values and more. In this session we are going to explore this further and see where in life you might be lacking connection. Plus you will be forging a strong connection within this wonderful group.
6) developing a regular self care practice
OK so when I say 'self care practice', I actually mean spiritual practice but some people get so caught up on that word so let's call it a self care practice (for now). Having a regular practice / habit / ritual is vital if you want to start to go deeper within yourself. Think of it like surfing or digging a hole - if you only do it once a month, you won't get far but if you do a little every day; now that is when you start to get some real treasure.
this is for you if:
you are have a body of any size, shape, colour or sexual orientation
you are ready to commit to daily practice for 30 minutes every day for one month, plus journalling
you have been searching for more meaning and depth in your life
you are sick of feeling reactive, anxious, numb, sad or dissatisfied
you are willing to share space with a small group whilst maintaining confidentiality
this is not for you if:
you are not ready to invest in yourself
you are looking for a magic pill or quick fix
you want to stay stuck in bad habits, low energy and a bad mood
you can't respect other people's experiences or keep group conversations to yourself
